Saponaria officinalis is a common perennial plant from the family Caryophyllaceae. This plant has many common names, including common soapwort, bouncing-bet, crow soap, wild sweet William, and soapweed and is native of Europe. Soapworts get their name because they contain saponins in the plant sap which lathers when used for washing.
Quillaja Saponaria, the soap bark tree or soapbark, is an evergreen tree in the family Quillajaceae, native to warm temperate central Chile. A liquid blend of both is all natural oil thickening agent to make balm textures. It is ideal for use in cleansers, body and lip balms, spa products, hair care, and baby products.
